A short half hour drive takes you to this breathtaking castle. As one of the most iconic images and views in Scotland, Eilean Donan is recognised all around the world. Situated on an island at the point where three great sea lochs meet, and surrounded by some majestic mountainous scenery, it is little wonder that the castle is now one of the most visited and important attractions in the Scottish highlands.

All produced in the finest natural fibres, including cashmere, lamora, mohair and lambswool. Applecross (and its amazing sea food)
 

Chefs at the Applecross Inn always try to use local produce on their menus, this includes of course the seafood from Applecross Bay itself, Prawns, Squat Lobster, Crab and Lobster, Local Scallops, Oysters, Mussels and Smoked  Salmon. Applecross Estate Venison and as much garden produce as possible, veg, fruit, and herbs. There is also a great sandy beach (and dunes) a short drive from Applecross.

Lochcarron has a 9-hole golf course in a superb loch-side location and visitors are always very welcome.   

 

Attadale Gardens are just 6 miles from the village of Lochcarron are well worth a visit.

 

The Lochcarron Highland Games take place at Attadale on the third Saturday of July.

 

Hill and Level Walking - there are many fine walks for all ages and abilities from short gentle strolls to challenging mountain climbs on the regions many Munros.

 

Beautiful Sandy Beaches - there are many beautiful sandy beaches in the area

 

Boat Trips - Hebridean Whale Cruises, Wildlife cruises and fishing trips, fishing boat trips to see creels being lifted and a glass bottomed boat trip for sealife enthusiasts.

Road bikes, mountain bikes and children’s bikes are available to hire locally.

 

Sea Kayaking and Sailing - there are plenty of sailing opportunities in the area, including space at the cottage to bring your own if you wish, as well as the annual sailing regatta in Plockton.

 

Wildlife - the shores have a good population of wildfowl, waders (oyster catchers, ringed plover and turnstones are numerous) and other sea birds including eider duck, herons, mergansers, terns, etc. Seals are often visible from the shore, and otters occasionally make an appearance. In the summer months, you may well see dolphins and porpoises and hear the black-throated divers overhead as they fly to feed from their nests on the hill lochans inland.
